Day 8 & 9

Day 8 - Hanging in Manning Park

After saying goodbye to the three musketeers it was time to start enjoying this beautiful place.
I was excited to jump into the hot tub, sauna & steam room thats offered at the Manning Park Resort. My legs were definitely in need of all three…In the hot tub I met a number of great people and told them all about my trip, they were thrilled for me! An older couple, who has asked to remain un-named, even drove me to the top of a mountain to see the Alpine Meadows! We walked the trails up there and they taught me about all the different plants and flowers. I had a hard time not laughing when they started to tell me about a specific flower called the Pussytoe. “It’s a very dry plant around 15 cm long with just a little tuff at the top, it requires a lot of moisture to bloom”
Loved it. Sorry if your reading this guys but I am 24 years old and that was priceless.

The rest of my day was filled with food, hummingbirds and beer. Oh and a very stiff rum and coke that one of the staff living in my hostel gave to me. His name was Josh, he’s been living and working here for about year with his girlfriend Emma. Also living in the hostel is a gem of a man named Boss Billy! All of these guys were great to have around and awesome to shoot the shit with.

Later in the evening I made my way to the lobby to get my daily fix of Wifi, this is where I met Aaron. He’s been travelling for about 2 months now, starting his trip in Ontario he headed east to Newfoundland.
(on his bicycle) From there he flew to Vancouver, landing on the same day that I did, and has been making his way back to Ontario. Turns out we are travelling the same route from here all the way back. So I picked up some beer from the general store and we decided to ride together for the foreseeable future. He has done a lot more planning than I have and knows a ton about all of the routes and mountain passes that lay ahead of us, you can call Aaron my personal GPS.

Let’s stay ONE more day in this paradise.

Day 9 - Still Hanging

Guess what, I got a fever, and the only prescription is more hot tub! I didn’t actually have a fever, don’t worry mom.

I’m going to try and get this day out of the way quickly, I’m hungry and need to start riding.
I stayed another day here because the weather was absolute crap. Had lots of chats with Aaron, the staff and even more cyclists that were passing through here.
I edited photos and cooked pancakes.
Played with the humming birds and prepared my food for the next day.

Later in the evening Aaron and I had a few pints and played some pool. This was great until I smoked my knee off of the coin slot. It’s in terrible pain this morning. Luckily I have a knee brace with me. So my morning is consisting of ice and advil.

Anyways that should be sufficient for today, going to make like a tree and get chopped down at the knee…

Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
